Founder Jim Felton and Fran Felton traveled to Washington D.C. this week to attend the
Soaring with Eagles Awards. This award celebrates the determination, ingenuity, industry/community contributions of those in the home improvement industry who by their endeavors, hard work and often unheralded effort symbolize our version of the American Bald Eagle.

In the 1960s, the home improvement industry consisted of mostly small companies - without structure and were not considered a viable contributor to their community or the national economy.
In 1962, the trade press speculated on "when the industry will hit the $2 billion dollar mark". Sears was a major retailer, Home Depot, Lowes, and similar companies did not exist. Tilo Roofing (Stratford Conn.) was an exception. In 1955 - (61 offices, 500 sales reps) manufactured roofing, siding, and sold direct to consumers. They had their own finance company (they were acquired by Reynolds Metals). Today, the home improvement industry, by conservative reckoning, does over $500 billion annually and is still growing, albeit with many challenges.

Congratulations! Your hard work and passion truly shine through in everything you do, and it’s wonderful to see you recognized for it. We are all so proud!
